La Mancha

Spain's best known literary work, Don Quixote, one of the most influential pieces of all time in Western literature, takes place in a part of Spain called La Mancha. On our way home from Toledo, we passed through La Mancha and stopped in a small town for lunch. In Don Quixote's most iconic scene, Quixote faces down some "giants" while his sidekick Sancho protests that the giants are simply windmills. Experts believe this town to be the location of the windmills inspiring Miguel de Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote. So, what does one do with two hours in a small town with "giant" windmills? Exactly what the hero of old did.
