Ávila: The City

Avila's other main claim to fame is its beautiful city walls. We got to walk all around them, and the view was great. The walls were really tall and super fun.

In an earlier post, I had found what appeared to be giant stone lego bricks. I've since decided these may be the Duplo equivalent.

It's a little hard to see in this picture, but there's a small door at the left of the photo. The slanted roof conceals stairs that lead from the second story of the house in the foreground. The owners of the house must have an escape hatch to the walls if things get scary! That or the guards all live in this house, and can come straight up to work after breakfast.
